Mandya: A person who tested positive for Covid-19 in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district – a first in the taluk – today has exposed chinks in the district administration’s management to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

For, the man had returned to his native Nagamangala from Mumbai just five days ago –  April 22. How did he manage? It’s interesting

According to Mandya DC MV Venkstesh, the patient was working in a hotel in Mumbai. He began his journey on April 20 in a canter supplying dates. He reached Udupi where he got freshened up, had breakfast, and began his next leg of journey in the same vehicle. They reached Channarayapatna in Hassan. From there he got down from canter and took his relative’s car and reached Nagamangala on April 22.

On April 24, he tested positive. His primary contacts including wife and brother have now been quarantined. Following this, Mandya DC has alerted Hassan DC about the patient and urged to take necessary action against canter driver and another person who helped the patient with the vehicle.

Now, Mandya district has begun to screening of all those who reached Mandya from outside.

Meanwhile, Hassan was in Green Zone with no Covid case. But the district administration may have to change its strategy in managing the pandemic.
So far, Mandya has registered 17 positive cases.
