Mysuru: Corporator of Ward 49 Sowmya Umesh on Tuesday distributed food kits to muslim women in her ward, near Basava Kendra, Basaveshwara road in the city.

As the fasting for Ramadan will begin in the next week, she appealed to them to perform customary prayers at home and follow the call of – stay home, stay healthy.

As per the instructions given by State Ward board, State and Central governments, with the lockdown in place, there is no permission to conduct mass prayers at mosques and dargahs, said Sowmya.

Public address system is also not allowed, but azan can be called in low decibel. There is also ban on hosting iftar meets and distributing soft drinks outside the mosques, she added.

BJP leader Umesh, Chandrashekar, Balaji, Ashwath Bahusar, Dr Sanjay Pai, Anju, Shekar, Sagar and others were present.
